How to load a template in LumaBooth
To use your own design in LumaBooth on the iPad, move the PNG or JPG into the Files app, open Print Layout from the start screen, choose Image, and pick the file. A template ZIP imports with Open With LumaBooth.
What you need
- An overlay PNG with clear photo windows and, if you use one, a background image (PNG or JPG).
- The files on the iPad, in the Files app. AirDrop or iCloud Drive both work.
- Sizes: 4x6 landscape 1800 x 1200, 5x7 landscape 2100 x 1500, 2x6 strip 600 x 1800. See the size table.
The steps
- Get the files onto the iPad. Move the image to the iPad's Files app, for example by AirDrop or iCloud Drive.
- Open Print Layout. It is at the top of the start screen. Choose Image, then pick the file you moved. Add the background first and the overlay second, so the overlay sits on top.
- Set the paper size. In the Printing item, choose a preset or enter the width and height, and set the orientation. For 2x6 prints, turn on Print 2 Per Page, which prints two templates side by side.
- Print a test. Print a real test strip and check that each photo shows through its window.
Importing a template ZIP
A template that came as a LumaBooth or dslrBooth ZIP uses a different route. Use Import in Print Layout, send the ZIP to the iPad by email or a file-sharing service, open it in Safari, Google Drive, Dropbox or AirDrop, and choose Open With LumaBooth. To move your own layout out, use Export at the top of the print layout screen.
The LumaBooth Dashboard
LumaBooth's March 2026 Dashboard release notes say photo placeholders are auto-detected when you add a JPG or PNG overlay, that dslrBooth and LumaBooth ZIP templates can be imported to reuse layouts, and that uploaded assets can be up to 15 MB and animated overlays up to 50 MB. The release notes say nothing about exact overlay pixel sizes, so match the print size as in the table above.

How this page was checked
Checked against LumaBooth's help center and its March 2026 Dashboard release notes on October 13, 2026. We have not yet run these exact steps on a current LumaBooth install with a downloaded set, so menu names may differ on your version: look for the same word. When we have, this box will say which version and what date.
